It's almost time
The kids rushed home from school today, revved up on a combination of sugar high from Christmas parties in the classroom and the excitement of Christmas. They ran through the front door, and immediately looked under the Christmas tree to see if any new presents might have been added. There were. My SIL sent a box that arrived today. They jumped up and down and begged a bit, and we decided to let them open a present or two. Somehow, the underneath of our tree resembles what the house looks like Christmas morning AFTER Santa comes. I'm not even sure where all of the presents came from. Perhaps they multiply in the night.
Of course, Devon had to be the drama king when he opened his first present.
"I don't like this - it sucks! I hate it! I hate you!"
I'm certainly used to it, and it makes me want to wrap things like underwear for him because it is just darn funny. But the present was from my FIL who was sitting on the couch. Not good. But, he did apologize, thank him and take the gift in his room to play with. It's amazing what the threats of a call to Santa and a foot up his ass can do to change a kid's perspective on things.
Zachary was talking a mile a minute about how once they open all their gifts Monday, they will be entertained for the rest of the vacation with all their new toys. I asked what he will do if they don't get new toys. Without missing a beat, he replied, "Well, we'll play with our coal then!"
Nicholas just likes opening presents. He doesn't care about the actual present themselves. He's such an agreeable kid. I can't wait until Christmas morning because he is going to be a load of fun to watch.
In other news, we finally put PA plates on our vehicle today. I already miss my NY ones. I made Jay stick our "Go to Hell, MI" License plate frame on the back of the car. It made me feel a little better.
